Self-Esteem
The word Esteem is the respect and admiration we have for people. Now add the word “self “ to it and it becomes the respect and regard we have for Self. It is the assurance we carry within ourselves or lack of that is based on our self perceived appearance, beliefs, emotions, behaviors and qualities we possess. Oftentimes the experiences we’ve had throughout our lifetime form our self-esteem and helps us measure our worth. This self perception can influence our sense of value in what we have to offer to the world and can be the driving factor in many of our life choices and decisions.
Okay so why is this important again?
The better our self-esteem, the more likely we are to make the efforts necessary in exploring our full potential. We become confident in our abilities. The more confident that we become, the more we believe we deserve. We strive for a better life; that means healthier relationships, fulfilling careers or businesses, better living situations, healthier lifestyle etc. Whatever it is your heart desires. The sky becomes your limit.
The key is to challenge and adjust our negative thoughts into positive ones. This is where the practice of self-care comes to play. It becomes a crucial part in improving our Mental health and developing cognitive skills that shift our attitudes and thinking.
Yea, it all starts with the MIND.
